- Leadership of the Accounting and Finance Function
- Team Management: Lead the SPS accounting team, consisting of four professionals (one based in Canada and three in Pakistan).
- Hiring and Firing: Oversee all recruitment and termination decisions for Accounting and Finance roles.
- Organizational Assessment: Meet with the accounting team to understand its current structure, review responsibilities, tasks, and tools in use, and assess processes to recommend optimizations.
- Software and Systems: Familiarize with and evaluate current accounting systems (Sage and BMS) to identify and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Training Validation: Oversee and validate role-specific training programs that are part of the talent induction process.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Monthly Financial Statements: Review and validate monthly corporate financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) generated by the accounting team.
- Performance Presentation: Present and discuss monthly financial performance with SPS executive leadership at 7:15 am on the first Wednesday after the 10th of each month.
- Forecasting and Budgeting
- Weekly Forecast Updates: Collaborate with business unit leaders to maintain updated financial forecasts, presenting them to executive leadership every Wednesday at 7:15 am.
- Annual Budget Development: Work with business unit leaders to create an annual budget, reviewing, negotiating, and finalizing it prior to the start of the fiscal year.
- Spending Management: Evaluate and approve spending requests within budgetary guidelines, proactively manage budget shortfalls, and implement cost-control measures as needed, including budget reductions, hiring freezes, and expense freezes.
- Executive Compensation: Develop and negotiate executive compensation packages to attract and retain top talent while ensuring alignment with corporate financial goals and maximizing profitability
