(SPS), administered its first OPEN HOUSE on Monday, 19th January, 2009, in collaboration with National University of Sciences and Technology –School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, located at sector H-12. The focal point of the event was centered on the launching of the SPS Global Competency Center. ICT graduates and undergrads from universities all across Pakistan namely GIKI, FAST, NUST, AIR, COMSATS and MAJU comprised the majority audience present at the occasion. The SPS product specialists gave presentations on the IBM Tivoli suite of products. Highlights included selection of candidates for prospective internships and apprenticeships provided by SPS. The event was attended by IBM representatives as well who elaborated on IBM academic initiative program and answered questions. The formation of the SPS Global Competency Center is the result of 15 years of partnership between IBM and SPS. ‘The primary mission of SPS GCC is to setup a center of worldwide talent for IBM Systems and Software. Utilizing SPS’s unique delivery model, virtual web technology, and certified consultants, SPS GCC will assist IBM customers worldwide achieve their business objectives faster, better and cheaper than any other service provider, and along the way produce a continuous stream of Pakistani students who will be IBM certified professionals in their own areas of interest’, said Dr Arshad Ali Director General SEECS. SPS is an IT services provider and internet security integrator with its headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, USA. Their consultants have implemented enterprise security and systems management solutions for over 15 years. SPS holds the AAA Tivoli Deployment Accreditation for IBM Tivoli Identity Management software, uniquely distinguishing it from other Tivoli partners in Pakistan, the Middle East, and Africa. Presently, there are no IBM software training centers in Pakistan or the Middle East. SPS in partnership with NUST-SEECS has set up the Global Competency Centre in Islamabad in order to fill this vacuum by training and producing expert personnel with knowledge of IBM Systems and Software. This initiative will also help to develop an awareness and high competency level in the usage and implementation of IBM tools (which are internationally renowned) in the Pakistani industry. |
